Kim Parsley - The creation of encaustic paintings is a place where art meets science.
Artist Kim Parsley has leveraged her passion to explore by traveling worldwide and often finds herself taking photos of the small stuff; the colors and textures that are created in unique ways, or even the forgotten and unnoticed vignettes of a street scene or back alley. Working in encaustic allows her to interpret those scenes and memories through textures, colors, and patterns in the wax or sometimes by incorporating a photo or even salvaged objects. Each encaustic piece then becomes one-of-a-kind due to variations in color, depth, and texture.

Dorothy Skea: My garments are designed with multiple seams to allow me to mix patterns and textures together and to give garments a semi- fitted look. Fabrics of new and old, different fiber contents are dyed and strip-pieced into a one of a kind fabric with harmonious color pallet and texture. Garments are then made from these fabrics.

Lynn Hanson has recently started using cold wax and oil paint in her artistic practice.  She loves the way it works with the direction she is going with her paintings.  Layers of color are built up, carved into and built upon again.  It is like excavating to find what is hidden beneath the surface, and then rebuilding.  The colors are rich with the oil paint added to the cold wax medium.  The texture is somewhat like frosting a cake.  Squeegies, scrapers, brayers and carving tools are used in this process.  There is an element of surprise that she really enjoys in the process.
