MURAL PROJECT EDMONDS
In 2017, Art Walk Edmonds (AWE) - a non-profit 501(c)(3) formed a committee made up of volunteer board members, community members, artists, and Edmonds business owners to rethink the Edmonds murals. They formed the Mural Project Edmonds (MPE) with the concept that murals are not permanent, but like a gallery, may be continually changing and evolving in the creative process.
In 2018, MPE installed its first two commissioned murals: “A Mother’s Love” on Sound Styles wall at 100 5th Ave N and “The Salish Sea” on MAR•KET wall at 508 Main St.
MPE plans to develop a few new murals each year, opening a call for all interested muralists to submit ideas and concepts for the individual walls. Its goal is to incorporate the architectural elements of the building as well as taking into consideration the placement, perspective, and view from the street. MPE will be seeking a culturally rich and diverse selection of murals which will range in style from traditional to contemporary and abstract.
sponsorship & donation opportunities
MPE plans to develop a few new murals each year. Building owners and businesses who are interested in a mural next year should contact Art Walk Edmonds at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The overall goal of the new MPE is to bring professional-level, well-planned artistry to our community and to fit appropriately into the chosen space. To pay for these endeavors, MPE is using funds raised by Art Walk Edmonds’ Summer Wine Walks, as well as donations and sponsorships by building owners.
Anyone interested in donating to the Art Walk Edmonds can do so here.
If you are interested in sponsoring a mural, email AWE at email@example.com or call at (425) 298.7947.
To develop a comprehensive plan for the implementation of professional murals, seeking out appropriate locations for exterior wall murals which enhance and do not detract from the beauty, scale and sense of place of the city of Edmonds. With community involvement we will seek art which is sensitive to each specific location and the history, diversity and character of the City in a visually cohesive manner.
