SEE ART ALL MONTH DURING BUSINESS HOURS AND ART WALK ON MAY 15TH 5-8PM
Jan Powers is a watercolor artist who possesses a whimsical flair. She enjoys implementing fantasy into the realm of reality. Allowing a mysticism that leaves one to wonder...can it be?
Not really certain in the beginning why she chose the medium of watercolor. She quickly discovered its unique characteristics and embraced them. One of those being, that with watercolor, the paper is the light. The places of light that the viewer sees in a watercolor painting are thought out by the artist before any paint ever touches the paper. Watercolor, unlike other mediums, takes on a life of its own. The pigment will only go where the water takes it. And left on its own, creates subtleties and nuances that can only occur through the natural process of just being left to work its magic. The transparency of watercolor offers the ability to bring light and enchantment in ways not found in other mediums.
As of late, her artistic abilities are venturing onto yet another path. The art of sewing! She had been wanting a quilted robe for herself and could not find what she had envisioned. So, she made herself one! That project has acknowledged a life of its own.
Her artist gifts offer a voice of communication she refers to as an alternate language. Unspoken, but communicating her inner self nonetheless.

SEE ART ALL MONTH DURING BUSINESS HOURS AND ART WALK ON MAY 15TH 5-8PM
Becca Lavin started painting in 2020 when her 20 year old private massage therapy practice closed its doors for the last time. Becca's art is mainly abstract or representational abstract using every medium that is within reach. It is restless, colorful and textured with a mind of its own. If there is a theme, she hasn't found it yet. Perhaps, Freedom. By the time she finishes a painting there is usually a deep understanding that has surfaced, for her. She leaves the rest to the observer as that is one of the magical things about abstract. The utter subjectiveness of what comes through to the observer.
Wendy Rader-Konofalski is a local artist who started painting later in life. A brush with death and seven weeks in the hospital and a long recovery may have worked a form of magic on her brain that opened up a portal into a creativity that she never knew existed. Wendy paints on canvas with acrylics, but often use mixed media elements such as charcoal and ink. She enjoys including collage in her work. She paints abstract works and landscapes as well as small florals. Wendy views her work as a sort of symbiotic relationship: herself as artist, and you as viewer.

Now she celebrates the world in color through her oil paintings.
“Spending my life near the water and the San Juan Islands, I have always been captivated by the reflective properties of water. By allowing colors to mingle in this impressionistic style, I hope to suggest a slight movement, enabling the viewer to have a sense of “being there.” The subject matter I have chosen endeavors to illustrate man’s delicate connection to nature from the quintessential houseboats of Seattle to the elegant lines of a sailboat. I strive to capture the beauty and evoke a sense of peace and joy”
