Cascadia Art Museum // Victoria Likes

190 Sunset Ave, open Wednesday - Sunday, 11-5pm
SEE ART ALL MONTH DURING BUSINESS HOURS AND ART WALK ON JAUARY 15TH 5-8PM

As a child, Victoria was not especially creative. She didn’t draw, paint or make things, and she didn’t take art classes as an adult. Victoria chose a business track in college, had a family and a long career in marketing until COVID hit and what she needed to do with the rest of her life became suddenly clear. Because Victoria has always loved animals and being outside, nature as a subject was the right place for her to start. As a self-taught emerging artist there are still many things to learn and much to explore but her work so far leans towards realism with a focus on birds, animals and landscapes. Victoria paints mainly with oils, playing with shape and color until the image she envisions emerges on the canvas. Hers is a joyous iterative process of experimentation and reworking until she senses the direction that the painting wants to go.

Center Gallery //Kimberly Person

700 Main St, open Monday - Friday 9am-8pm, Saturday 10am-2pm
SEE ART ALL MONTH DURING BUSINESS HOURS AND ART WALK ON JANUARY 15TH 5-8PM

The Sacred in Motion unites the choreographic vision of Alberto Gaspar with the photographic artistry of Kimberly Person, featuring dancers from Olympic Ballet Theatre. Each image in the exhibition captures the ephemeral nature of dance — movements that exist for only a breath — preserving them in their most intimate, vulnerable, and authentic form. Centered on three of Gaspar’s works for OBT — Capriccio del Cuore, 1 in 10²,685,000, and Transfigurations — the exhibition invites viewers into the emotional, spiritual, and architectural depths of contemporary ballet. Through Person’s perceptive lens, every gesture becomes a narrative fragment: a shift of breath, a moment of surrender, an unseen story unfolding within the dancer’s body. Together, the artists and the company create an immersive experience that reveals the collaborative world of choreography and photographic storytelling.

Show runs through March 2nd.

“In With the New,” is Gallery North’s annual exhibition welcoming new member artists to the gallery.

Wai Wong-Miller works in oil, watercolor, and mixed-media paintings. Wai's love of nature, animals, landscapes, flowers, and marine life is the subject she explores in her paintings. Her paintings tend to draw the viewer into her world, rich with colors and light. Her styles are a confluence of Contemporary, Impressionistic, and Abstract Realism, and she continues to push her boundaries as she learns and develops as a painter.

Lynn Dong works primarily in acrylics, focusing on landscapes and portraits. Influenced by Sorolla, Sargent, Monet, and Renoir, Lynn is drawn to exploring light, color, and atmosphere. What began as a pandemic hobby in 2021 quickly grew into a dedicated painting practice, and she now brings a thoughtful, contemporary approach to the gallery.

Sue Coccia is well-known for her intricate animal-themed artwork. Trained at the Burnley School for Professional Art, she creates detailed pen-and-ink drawings hand-painted with acrylics and rich with symbolism. For the Third Thursday Art Walk, she'll bring her torches, anvil and hammers to demonstrate how this type of jewelry is made. Come try your hand at creating shapes and texture with the pure silver wire!

Photo HQ // Yasmine Pourarian, Reed Sanders, Ema Grey Bushnell, & Harry Sohal

186 Sunset Ave, open Monday - Friday 9am-5:30pm, Saturday 10am-4pm
SEE ART ALL MONTH DURING BUSINESS HOURS AND ART WALK ON JANUARY 15TH 5-8PM

Yasmine Pourarian is a photographer living in Edmonds. She discovered photography at age 8 when her mother bought her an old camera. After college, she relocated to Seattle for her first job, where she picked up film photography to document her life and loved ones. Starting with disposable cameras, she has advanced to SLRs, capturing her travels, National Parks, and her cat. If you see her wandering around Seattle, please say hi!

Reed Sanders is a photographer and visual artist who plans to attend Western Washington University's arts program. Inspired by the dramatic landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, he gravitates towards the defining traits of this region: clouds, rain and darkness. His goal is to convey the emotions of uneasy loneliness and solitude that the Pacific Northwest landscapes create and to communicate the beauty of the places that are easily dismissed as cold and inhospitable. He believes that there is no medium better than film for capturing the emotions of a landscape because on film greys shift to cool blues, and the grain of analog media and vintage glass enhance the natural texture and drama of these spaces. Reed hopes to become an art educator to teach photography and art.

Ema Grey Bushnell is an amateur photographer living in sunny Seattle, WA. Ema inherited a passion for film photography from their parents, and has been shooting regularly since entrusted with their mother’s Olympus OM-1 as a teen. Growing up with a documentarian family, Ema developed an innate eye for light and framing, fostered an intrinsic pleasure in translating the world through a lens, and gained a deep appreciation for the joy and art of “The Photograph.” An avid outdoorsman, Ema’s greatest inspiration is using photography as a tool to bring the wilderness back home, allowing anyone a portal into the majesty that lies just beyond our concrete jungle. With climate change and rapid urban expansion, maintaining our world's natural resources and undeveloped land is pivotal; by capturing what little splendors they can, Ema hopes to stoke the fire of conservation in folks who view their work.

Harry Sohal’s journey with photography began in college, taking photos for friends, sparking a passion that later shaped Harry’s life. While pursuing a stable career in tech as an engineer, photography took a backseat. However, the pandemic reignited Harry’s love for it, and Harry dedicated countless hours to honing skills, especially in color grading, blending technical expertise with creative instincts. Harry is endlessly fascinated with how we perceive the world, and tries to reflect that curiosity through each photo.
