The Film Club of Photo HQ/We Develop Film brings together more than 60 artists of all experience levels through a shared love of analog photography and community. Since 2025, members have met each month to explore featured film stocks, exchange ideas, plan events and go on photo excursions throughout the greater Seattle area together.
The work of Film Club members is featured on a rotating basis at Photo HQ, showcasing the diverse perspectives and creative work within the club.

Toni Santos is an artist that works in a little cottage studio in Seattle.
When she was a tiny baby she contracted the chicken pox and cried and cried. Her father cradled and rocked her for hours to console her, “don’t cry baby buddha, don’t cry”.
Baby buddha (Toni) illustrates and paints in a whimsical and loose style with pencil and watercolor. Storefronts, portraits, and beloved images of everyday ordinary life, are the subjects for her art.

NW7 is a group of art friends who have been painting, lunching and inspiring each other for over 18 years. Instigated by Sue Robertson the group meets once and month to work on individual projects and occasionally join in a group show. ‘Where We Are Now’ is our second group show at the Frances Anderson Center proposed to challenge each other to review our growth over the years we have been together. Some have continued the same path; some have circled back to familiar territory and some of us have ventured and grown far from our beginnings. Whether we are noodling in a sketch book or throwing paint we continue to respect and encourage each other’s path and hope to continue painting together for many more years.

Melissa Wadsworth is an oil painter whose work explores the energy, essence, and spirit of the natural world. Guided by her belief that "Art is Intentional Energy Shared," she creates expressive landscapes that invite viewers to experience the presence of place beyond what is immediately visible. Working both en plein air and in the studio, Melissa uses vibrant color, rich texture, and dynamic brush and palette knife techniques to capture the living energy of the landscapes she paints. As a colorist, she thoughtfully selects hues that resonate with the emotional character of each location, creating works that evoke connection, wonder, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.
Melissa is an active advocate for the arts community. She serves as an Advisory Member of the Edmonds Arts Festival Executive Board and previously served as Co-Director of Edmonds Arts Festival Gallery Arts. She is also a member of Plein Air Washington Artists, Oil Painters of America, and Edmonds Artists Connect, where she continues to support and celebrate the vibrant arts community of the Pacific Northwest. Her paintings are held in private collections throughout Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Pennsylvania, New York, and the United Kingdom.

Ruth Lee is a mixed media artist who draws inspiration for her art from travel whether local or around the world. Her art reflects an inner sense and feeling of place. More than a casual photo, it creates a mood that brings unexpected surprises worth remembering. Inspiration may be seeing the mountains of Patagonia, Chile that were finally visible on the last day, or the unexpected sight in South Africa of an ostrich by the Atlantic Ocean. It may be beauty found in a landscape which at first glance is harsh and barren such as the dunes of Namibia, or it may be the smile from seeing the shaggy Scottish cows. Art is more than what appears in a picture, it’s a reflection of the artist’s senses.

Artist Pam Ingalls has created a vibrant series of 36 portraits celebrating the irresistible charm of pets and their people from the Edmonds community. During May, Pam captured more than 40 short videos of local pet owners and their beloved companions, and she is now transformed those moments into paintings for her August exhibition.

Isabelle is an American abstract artist whose work is held in private collections across the United States, Canada, Europe, China, and South America. Following a transition from a career as CEO, she committed fully to her studio practice, developing a body of work defined by clarity, restraint, and a sense of joy. Isabelle is represented in the United States and Europe and has been invited to exhibit for her fifth consecutive year at the Festival of Arts Laguna Beach (2026).

Scott Anstett is an American painter and multi-media artist whose work is celebrated for its color, energy, and visual wit. Trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and shaped early by graphic-design practice, Anstett combines a rigorous understanding of composition with a playful approach to subject and surface. His paintings and mixed-media pieces range from intimate studies to larger gallery works and often explore narrative, memory, and the subtleties of human presence through bold color relationships and layered imagery.

Katrina Haffner is the artist behind Feral Fauna. Her work is an exploration of the complexities and mysteries of Mother Nature, with a focus on the cycles of life and death, light and dark, plant and bone. A reminder of our origin, fragility and connection to the wild animal spirit. Katrina was born and raised in Seattle and has a keen eye and talented hand for capturing many of the beloved flora and fauna of the Pacific Northwest.

Author and public historian, Tamiko Nimura will be discussing her new memoir A Place for What We Lose: A Daughter’s Return To Tule Lake, published by the University of Washington Press.
In a moving conversation with the past, Tamiko Nimura explores her late father’s life and her family’s wartime history at Tule Lake…Part memoir, part dialogue with the past, A Place for What We Lose illuminates the enduring costs of incarceration while honoring the persistence of family, memory, and story. It is a profoundly moving exploration of grief, history, and the fragile but necessary work of resilience.
Tamiko Nimura, Ph.D., is an award-winning Asian American (Sansei/Pinay) creative nonfiction writer, community journalist, and public historian. She writes from an interdisciplinary space at the intersection of her love of literature, grounding in American ethnic studies, inherited wisdom from teachers and activists, and storytelling through history. Her commissioned work includes a California permanent exhibit, a co-authored graphic novel titled We Hereby Refuse, and a 10+-year series of essays for the Japanese American National Museum. She is a board member of the Tule Lake Committee. As the direct descendant of Japanese American World War II incarcerees, Tamiko has worked to keep this history alive through her writing and public speaking.

Jiefeng “Jeff” Li was born and raised in Xi’an, China, and lived a rich and creative life for 81 years. A devoted artist, Jeff found great joy and inspiration in the communities of Edmonds and Everett, Washington, which he deeply loved and proudly called home during the last 22 years. Jeff was a true artist whose work spanned many styles and mediums, including oil painting, Chinese watercolor, traditional ink painting, landscapes, portraits, and expressive freehand art. Most of his oil paintings were created during his time in Edmonds and Everett, where the beauty of the Pacific Northwest inspired much of his artistic vision. His artwork was known for its vivid colors, diverse styles, and lifelike expression. Through every brushstroke, Jeff captured not only the beauty of nature and humanity, but also the warmth, emotion, and spirit of life itself. His art reflected both his Chinese heritage and his deep appreciation for the community and surroundings that embraced him in America. Jeff will be remembered not only for his remarkable artistic talent, but also for the kindness, creativity, and quiet passion he shared with those around him.

Case Kelley’s work is rooted in the idea that every place, experience, and relationship leaves a mark. Through layers of paint, collage, texture, and gesture, he explores the tension between what we choose to reveal and what remains beneath the surface.
Growing up in Southern California, Kelley was surrounded by vibrant color, open light, and the rhythm of the coast. After moving to the Pacific Northwest, his perspective shifted. The dramatic skies, changing seasons, rugged shorelines, and quiet moments found in places like Edmonds have become an endless source of inspiration. Rather than recreating landscapes, he aims to capture their emotional essence - the feeling of standing at the water's edge, watching light move across the horizon, or finding calm in the midst of constant change.
Each painting develops through intuition. Layers are built, obscured, scraped away, and rediscovered, creating a visual history that mirrors our own experiences. The process embraces imperfection, spontaneity, and curiosity, allowing unexpected moments to shape the final composition. For Kelley, painting is less about depicting a place than preserving the emotion of being there.
Kelley hopes his work invites viewers to slow down and look beyond the surface. Whether someone connects with a color, a texture, a memory, or simply a feeling they can't quite name, he wants each piece to become a personal experience rather than a fixed narrative.

Gallery North is pleased to present Passing Through, a solo exhibition of colored pencil drawings by Edmonds-area artist Nicole Caulfield. The exhibition features a collection of carefully observed scenes inspired by the places that make Edmonds and the surrounding Puget Sound region unique. Rendered entirely in colored pencil, the drawings celebrate the quiet beauty of everyday moments—a ferry crossing at sunset, the view from a café window, a familiar waterfront bench, downtown landmarks, and glimpses of the shoreline framed by windows or natural features. Each piece invites viewers to pause and notice the places they may pass every day without a second glance.
Displayed along with Caulfield’s work is special guest ceramic artist Jon Anderson. Jon Anderson has worked as an artisan potter for about 12 years; his practice includes mixing his own glazes and a keen interest in surface texture and layering. His current work focuses primarily on soda firings but also on wood and pit firings to create visual interest on a variety of forms.

Peter is an Edmonds based artist who attended Meadowdale High School before heading to the University of Washington, where he received a Bachelor of Arts. While at the UW, Peter immersed himself in textile design and print making. Using homemade printmaking tools, each monoprint and hand-cut paper lamp has its own unique one-of-a-kind character, setting each one apart from the other. Peter approaches each piece mindfully and with intention, experimenting with forms in hand-cut paper, transforming a simple piece of paper into a captivating, soulful object whose force emanates from the surface. Each piece is finished with a handmade wood frame for the prints and cut-paper wall installation, or a handmade turned wood base for the standing cut-paper lamps. Peter's pieces are truly awe-inspiring, one-of-a-kind, creations.

The soft, dreamy landscapes of Mary Skomerza are a testament to her love affair with the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. She especially adores the moody skies, dramatic slivers of light, and vivid sunset hues. Each of Mary's paintings is a poem to the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Her soft brush strokes evoke the diffused way we often see light, as if through a veil of mist. The structure of landscape features is there, easily recognizable. Yet each element is mellowed with a bit of blur. The end result is a peaceful, magical place where one's imagination can run free.
Skomerza earned a BA from Evergreen College in 2022. She has participated in numerous regional group shows since then, earning a handful of awards along the way. Enjoy watching Mary begin work on a new canvas during this Third Thursday Art Walk Edmonds!

Scott Lacy has been drawn to photography since he was a kid, and that curiosity has never faded—it has simply evolved through different cameras over the years. While you'll often find him photographing his kids' soccer games with a digital camera, he almost always has a 35mm film camera slung over his shoulder, ready for whatever catches his eye. For Scott, film is more than a medium; it's an excuse to travel, wander somewhere new, slow down, and see the world with greater intention, always chasing interesting light, thoughtful composition, and fresh perspectives.
Isabel Calkins Mata is a queer, neurodivergent artist and public servant based in Lynnwood, Washington. A writer, painter, film photographer, and singer in an early-aughts rock band, she is passionate about storytelling, creative expression, and building communities where people can show up as their full selves. She began shooting film as an antidote to constant scrolling, drawn to the medium's invitation to slow down and pay attention. Her photographs reflect a love of nature, small moments, and the beauty that emerges when we move through the world with curiosity and presence.
Brendan Griffin is a photographer born and raised in Seattle. Since 2024 he’s been taking photos on vintage 35mm film SLRs. A big fan of traveling and shooting on different film stocks. His reoccurring subjects are landscapes, animals, and macro photography of plants. He’s had his work displayed at AXIS gallery in Pioneer Square and at We Develop Film in Edmonds.
Ashley-Maria Gilson is a fine art photographer based in Edmonds, working across black-and-white film, digital photography, and mordançage — a darkroom process that alters silver gelatin prints to create lifted, veiled textures. Her work captures the quiet beauty of nature, impermanence, and transformation through a blend of traditional and experimental techniques. Drawn to fleeting moments and subtle details, she creates images that invite viewers to slow down and experience the natural world in a more intimate, contemplative way. Ashley-Maria embraces unpredictability as an essential part of the creative process, using it to explore themes of transformation, loss, renewal, and personal artistic evolution.

Young Lee developed for passion for creative art when she immigrated to the United States. She put her passion on hold while she owned and operated four restaurants and raised a family. When Young retired in 2017, she began her road to achieve her passion; she took workshops at Gage Academy and private lessons from local recognized artists. Young developed her passion through her developing skills in pastels, acrylic oils and sumi ink creations. Young is a member of KAAW, a 20+ year-old organization for the development of Asian American Artists, and Plein Air Washington. In 2023, Young achieved her dream of opening a boutique gallery and studio when she opened Young Gallery in Edmonds. There she has her studio and presents her art, alongside with other aspiring artists to whom she provides space. Young expresses her passion for family, nature and wildlife, inner peace and love through her artwork.
